ONE WEEK AWAY!

We are one week away from our Theta Beta Centennial!! Below is the most recently updated list of attendees for the event on October 8-10th. The total attending the banquet on Friday is a rousing 333, including alumnae, collegiates, pledges and special guests - quite a fitting number... All good things come in 3!

We are so pleased to have all of you making the effort to be here for this big celebration!! Many of the committee, both collegiates and alumnae are going to be decorating at the UMC Ballroom starting at 2:00 on Friday. The attire for Friday evening is business casual.

The event starts at 6:00p.m. on Friday Oct. 8th. You will check in at the nametag tables and receive your souvenir booklet /program and roster of those attending. That will be a great time to begin taking group pictures of friends in your decade in the SW corner of the ballroom. Please arrive promptly so you can see friends before dinner. The buffet dinner will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Some ladies may want to get a head start on reacquainting with old friends by convening at their respective hotels by 4:00. I know Sharon Delo has made arrangements for gathering in the Coach Bar at the Harvest House Millenium at 4:00. Reserved shuttle rides to the UMC begin by 5:30 - Sharon has made arrangements, so please check with her at sodelo@comcast.net or 303-444-1218 to sign up. If you want a shuttle up to the UMC from your hotel, check with your hotel ahead. We hope to begin our program at 7:30pm.

Two Tri Deltas from National's Delta Shop, Lauren and Ashley, are coming up from Texas to offer a great selection of fun Tri Delta items. Delta Shop will be open for shopping both Friday night and Saturday at the house. They are flying up from Dallas to offer you this fun opportunity to buy Tri Delta souvenirs and have graciously offered at 15% discount to all for the Theta Beta Centennial! Attached you will find a coupon to print.

On Saturday
, brunch is from 10am-1pm and continuous serving and house tours will be happening from 10-11. Again, The Delta Shop will also be set up at the house so be sure to check it out. Someone from our House Corps will talk about opportunities for donating to the “Centennial Kitchen Fund”. After brunch, there will be a brief “chat” with the actives who are our hostesses that day. After brunch and the chat, we will sing “Happy Birthday, Theta Beta” with a sensational 100 year birthday cake. You will want a picture of this amazing cake and for sure a piece of it to enjoy!

At 12:30pm on Saturday, we will be taking a group photo of all alumnae on the front porch of the house (weather permitting). There will be younger alumnae smiling from out all of the windows for the picture.

You may also want to shuttle up to the house on Saturday and plan to be there the whole time from 10-1. Parking is still at a premium, but a little easier on weekends.

After the brunch and morning celebration, a few of the actives in the house have kindly offered to give campus tours for alumnae who want to walk around campus on a lovely fall day and see many great changes. Meet in the living room at 1:30 for a tour. They can make the walk as long or as short as you want.

For the Spouses wanting to go to the Shelby Car Museum on Sat. morning out in Gunbarrel area, let Lew Kingdom know you are interested in joining the group and whether you need a ride or not. Rides will be leaving from the Harvest House at 10:30am. Admission is $5.00. There is also the Leaning Tree Art Museum near the car museum. The guys will figure out where to stop for lunch around noon. You can email Lew at lkingdom@comcast.net. I think there may be 10 or so of you interested, so be sure to check in with Lew.

Most Decade dinners will be meeting at the designated locations at 5:00pm on Saturday. We’re hoping for a nice fall day with temps maybe in the 60’s in the day and 40’s at night so dress comfortably and casually for Sat. night. Check the former blog update for details of the decade gatherings. Remember, you need to let the decade hostess know you are coming. Please contact me with any questions at skingdom@comcast.net.

Because of the full schedule on Friday and Saturday, there will not be a continental breakfast on Sunday morning. Anyone is welcome to stop by the house on their way out of town, but there will be no meals served.

In the bonds of friendship,

Your Centennial Committee of collegiates and alumnae

CENTENNIAL UPDATE - Last Chance to Register!

We are building momentum and enthusiasm for this huge intergenerational event October 8-10, 2010 and wanted to bring you up to date. Checks and reservations are still coming in daily, and I urge you to get your plans made to attend! The registration deadline is Wednesday, September 15th. For those who still intend to send in your $50.00 registration, you can make checks out to “Tri Delta” and mail to Sally Kingdom, 1325 Old Tale Rd., Boulder, CO 80303. Encourage your friends to sign up as well.

The attached list of attendees is current as of today and still growing. If you notice missing friends from your era who may need another nudge, please help us by encouraging them to get in their reservations ASAP! (Remember, the cutoff deadline is September 15th).

Highlights for the Friday, October 8th Centennial Celebration Dinner at the UMC Ballroom

  • The Centennial Celebration banquet begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8th.
  • The dress is Business Casual. The UMC is offering a non-alcoholic bar set up for the 6-7 time frame, and the buffet dinner will begin at 7:00p.m. Name tags will be at the door.
  • Seating will be at tables of 8 and 10 and arranged by decades.
  • We will have souvenir booklets for you with the program included. This booklet will include a contact roster of all alumnae attending. If you want to opt out of your information being printed, please email Sally at skingdom@comcast.net by September 15th.
  • Dan Davis, the son of one our alumna members will be our photographer. Photos may be ordered and paid for on-line rather than at the dinner. Prices are reasonable.
  • Sharon Delo has arranged shuttle services on Friday night from the Millennium Hotel to the University Memorial Center where the dinner is to be held. Vans will leave at 5:30 and 5:45 and a return trip at 9:30 and 9:45. She suggests meeting at 4:00 at the Millennium for anyone who might want to have cocktails as there won't be any liquor served at the dinner. If you choose to drive your own car to campus, there is parking in a lot east of the UMC as well. You need to reply to Sharon Delo at sodelo@comcast.net and let her know you would like to use the shuttles she has reserved or call her at 303-444-1218 and reserve a spot.
  • There will be a Delta Shop set up featuring all things Tri Delta--it will be set up at the House on Saturday as well.
  • There will be a special program following dinner. The program will begin with remarks from our esteemed National President, Jackye Clark. We will have other honored guests attending like a university representative, our housemother, Darlene, and House Manager, Vic. Representatives from each of the 8 decades will share brief highlights and significance of their decade beginning with Jewel who initiated in 1938. The Delta Divas from the house will be performing. We will have a short video at the end and come to closure around 9:30.
Saturday, October 9th – Tri Delta Sorority House
  • You will want to be at the Tri Delta house at 1025 15th St. at 10:00 on Saturday morning, October 9th. There will be an open house with house tours, a special program by the actives around 11:00 and a nice brunch and special birthday cake to celebrate the remarkable 100 years of Theta Beta history. The girls living at the house will free up the parking behind the house, but it is at a premium so it might be best to car pool.
  • There will be a brief presentation from our House Corps. They will share with you plans and opportunities for contributing to the ongoing support of our lovely sorority house.
  • For spouses who are attending that weekend, they are welcome to join my husband, Lew Kingdom, on Saturday around 11:00 a.m. to tour the Shelby American Collection Museum which holds rotating casts of legendary cars. The museum is open during October from 10-4 on Saturdays for a $5.00 admission fee. Let us know if your husband would like to join the men for a tour of the museum and lunch somewhere and if they will need transportation. lkingdom@comcast.net
  • If you haven't seen the Heritage Center and have time Saturday afternoon, it is on the top floor of Old Main and really a great exhibit of CU memories. The campus has changed a lot, of course, but a walk around will certainly bring up great memories and the new facilities at the stadium are awesome.
  • The girls at the house have offered to set up campus tours over the weekend. There will be a signup in the living room at the house.
Saturday, October 9th – Evening Activities

Saturday evening will provide a good time for the Decades to have their own dinner together so you can have time to visit. You need to RSVP to each decade hostess by September 15th.

  • The 40’s and 50’s will need to let Donna Meckley know if you would like to join them at the Boulder Cork restaurant at 5:30. There will be a special menu at $35.00-$40.00 plus bar costs. Her email is ddmeckley@q.com or 303-449-1400.
  • For the 60’s , there will be a catered dinner ($35.00) at the home of Sally and Lew Kingdom. RSVP to skingdom@comcast.net or call 303-444-2210 and mail your check for $35/pp to Sally Kingdom, 1325 Old Tale Rd., Boulder, CO 80303.
  • For the 70’s you can refer to Gina Swets at ginaswets@comcast.net. They will be having a catered gourmet Mexican buffet ($38.00) at the home of Jodi Price . Sign up with Gina.
  • For the 80’s you can refer to Liz Hall at and she can tell you where the 80’s decade is gathering. Contact Liz.Hall@pinnacol.com
  • For the 90’s, contact Deirdre Russell at deirdrerussell@gmail.com and she will be the organizer for the 90’s.
  • For joining in the 2000 decade for dinner, contact Joanna Webb at jwebb@trideltaeo.org to find out where they will be gathering.

Sunday, October 10 – Tri Delta Sorority House

As the weekend draws to a close on Sunday 10/10/10, you are welcome to stop by the house between 9:00a.m. and 11:00 for coffee and a limited continental breakfast .

It will be such a joy to see all of you again...gathered in the bonds of warm friendship and sisterly love.

Delta love,

Sally Kingdom and a dedicated Centennial Committee of alumnae & collegiates

Sisterhood and Theta Beta Traditions celebrate 100 years

All of you Theta Beta Sisters need to have your 2010 calendars marked for our special Centennial Celebration on Friday, October 8-10th of next fall. The weekend will be filled with joyous shrieks of seeing friends again you may not have seen since college days. Already, I am hearing of people discovering college friendships are still solid, the funny sisters still generate laughter and the sisters still have a bond of Tri Delta loyalty that truly lasts a lifetime. Make plans now to rekindle those friendships on this unforgettable weekend.

We encourage you to make your plans now since we have blocks reserved at several local hotels and motels for this not-to-miss occasion. If you want to reserve rooms with classmates, do so now and let me know what and where you are planning to stay. Prices range from the old Holiday Inn on 28th St. , now called Boulder Outlook Inn, Millenium Harvest House, Boulder Marriott, Hotel Boulderado, Chautauqua cottages and the newer very nice St Julien Hotel at 9th and Walnut. Reconnect with your familiar classmates and be sure to let me know you are coming, where you will be staying and how to contact you.

Thursday night might be a chance for energetic ones to get to the Sink in time to write your name on the ceiling, have a Sinkburger for old times sake and get a head start on nurturing those treasured friendships. The collegiates have offered to organize tours of campus during the day on Friday or offer shuttle service up to the UMC for the big banquet gathering on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. That Friday Night Banquet will be at the UMC Ballroom where you once had your freshman orientation and will hopefully feature our National Tri Delta President, Jackie Clark, Colorado University President Welcome, and speakers from each decade representing your era and a reunion serenade from the Delta Divas (formerly the Delta Darlings). Start now to gather your pictures to put on the bulletin board at the DDD House to help us remember.

Saturday morning will be your nostalgic moment to walk through the house at 1025 15th St. for an Open House at the Tri Delta house and truly “Walk down Memory Lane” to see your old room and how many great changes have been made that enhance the charm of our grand old house. Our hearts and loving memories will be reminding us of the good old days. Hopefully, the fall weather will provide a chance to walk across campus on a crisp autumn afternoon.

That Saturday night will provide the chance for the decades to gather with spouses and guests at a pre-designated dining place whether it be Red Lion Inn, Chautauqua Dining Hall or a place in Boulder once we find out where everyone is staying.

Here is the address to mail in a $50.00 deposit to say you are coming. Mail to Sally Kingdom at 1325 Old Tale Rd., and indicate where you plan to stay. Call me at 303-444-2210. You can be getting regular updates and progress information at our blog site: http://tridelta100.blogspot.com . Some do not have email, but for those who do, we need your email address so we can contact you. For others of you who want continuing information by mail, make sure we have your correct address and indicate that you are attending when you mail in your $50.00 deposit and your contact information. I am relying on my dear Tri Delta daughter to help me keep us connected and efficiently accounted. The dinner Friday night at the UMC will be around $35.00, and at least a $20.00 donation to the chapter for the Open House on Saturday morning. Once you see how much the kitchen needs renovation, you may want to plan on a “helpful” donation that weekend.

Here’s to loyal friendships reuniting next October 2010 and make your plans soon so we can inform you of specific plans developing for the weekend. We will have an opportunity to remember those who won’t be able to be with us but with us in the spirit of the pine, pearl and pansy and DDD.
